Breathing, Eating, and Drinking Together

is a participatory and collaborative art project by Simona Mancheva, building upon the interests from last year’s exploration titled “Breathing Together,” raising questions about the way we live and interact with nature. This project was realized in Veles (specifically in the area of Lavchani) and in Kavadarci in collaboration with artists Dorotej Neshovski, Ana Trajkovska, Dragancho Tanevski, Risto Josifovski, and Elena Dimova Pantelić, supported by KSP Center-Jadro.

The climate changes and the pandemic that we all feel with fear about how, where, and what we breathe influenced the research themes. “Breathing, Eating, and Drinking Together” in its visual aspect offers a reexamination of the ways we approach nature, raising awareness of ecology, and actively engaging the community in addressing micro-level issues.

The notes titled “Human Activities and Decisions” speak of hero-phobia, about our social order and the fear of enjoying natural beauty as a means for a better tomorrow, emphasizing the irrational aversion to happiness.

In collaboration with Partizanska Shtampa, we will have the opportunity to create works using the screen printing technique, directing our thoughts and actions towards the health of the population as a precondition for a quality life and well-being. These aspects are fundamental for sustainable development, whose goal is to raise awareness of ecology and the interdependence of humans with nature.

Genetic factors are significant, but lifestyle and the influence of the environment are crucial for the health of the population. Through an installation made of waste, we will be able to see our everyday life and how, through our attempts to protect ourselves, we sometimes harm ourselves.

The project is financially and logistically supported by the Municipality of Kisela Voda.
